Ugh, I don't know. Would this happen to be for Higgin's class?
Higgin's class is so hard
The three major characteristics of an indifference curve are: 1. They are negatively sloped 2. They are convex to the origin 3. Indifference curve cannot be intersected
Dow Jones has 30 major stocks included, that's why from time to time its referred to as a Dow30.
Let's briefly explore each one of these and see how they shift the curve. Probably what you hear about most in economics is how changes in technology affect the curve. For example, let's say the country discovers a new technology, such as a new computer system that improves productivity. Anything that improves the productivity of workers is good. This causes output to increase, so the production possibilities curve shifts outward, or to the right. On the other hand, let's say a major war causes destruction of capital equipment in the country. This would cause output to decrease, so in this case, the production possibilities curve shifts inward, or to the left.
Workers at a major battery factory go on strike and stop production. If there was a change in the price of batteries would indicate movement along the supply curve. For example if the battery manufacturer raised the price of AA batteries from 3.50 to 3.95 since it would cause movement along the curve. In an ideal economics situation the price would change if the demand shifts or the supply shifts or the change in price will fall back to being equal.
In long run non of the factors are fixed, long run average cost is the locus of envelope point of various SATC's. The operation of law of returns to scale is major reason for the U shaped of LAC.
