There is one solution to a famine that is happening now. That is to bring food into the famine area from regions where it is more available, and to distribute it to the affected people rapidly, efficiently, equitably, and in adequate quantity.

Famines have many causes, so there are many solutions in terms of preventing one from starting. These include:

  • Maintain a balanced agriculture that is not dependent on one or two crops
  • Farm using effective soil conservation techniques to prevent erosion
  • Use good water management methods to ensure farms receive adequate water without wasting it.
  • Control or limit increases in population density.
  • Help farmers improve their farming methods and diversify.
  • Reduce urban crowding and poverty.
  • Prevent, avoid or end wars.
  • Maintain a store of food stuffs for use during drought or other upset situations.

Slight problem with the aforementioned solution.

If copious amounts of food are distributed for an extended period, as is suggested, then the only place that you will find farmers is in the food lines. No business can compete with competition that supplies for free.

Thus solutions 1,2 3 5 and 7 are irrelevant

That just leaves

Reduce urban crowding -they can all live around the food silos

End wars -piece of cake
