It's not a half dollar because the UK doesn't use dollars. It's a half-pound coin because the UK uses pounds sterling as its currency.

That aside, it was a common circulation coin until it was replaced with a smaller version in the early 1990s. It would have value to a collector only if it was in almost-uncirculated or uncirculated condition, anywhere from maybe $6 to $15.
