Hopefully not. Hopefully the US will start to disable buying products from CHina and increasing the US dept which is already 14.6 trillion dollars as of 9/1/11. China also has a nuclear weapon as does Russia and the US although the US has more than China. CHina also has the worlds biggest army in the world the US second to them but the Chinese army isn'y as well equiped as the US is and isn't as active. So most likely, China will not become the most powerful nation in the world.
They are so powerful because US is such a powerful country.

The European Union is the second most powerful entity in the world after the US. Although not technically a country, the EU holds the potential to be a superpower and is even more powerful than China. The EU is expected to fuse as one country someday and its also not expected to be surpassed as the second most powerful country.
