There are many reasons for this, but the primary reason is that in spite of it's brutality and repressiveness, capitalism does make people more sophisticated, more well rounded, more subtle creatures. Capitalism created the necessary prerequisites in people for them to start to think in such ways as to facilitate the rise of more humanistic philosophies.
