There is much confusion among financial executives as to what point the Oakland and other Occupy protesters are trying to make.
The Occupy people cannot seem to express it this way, but for the top 1% here is what it is about: Their issue is what economists call "moral hazard" (when one person takes a risk in search of a big reward but someone else is burdened by any negative consequences). Heads I win, tails you lose. It does not seem fair.
Lots of Wall Streeters got huge bonuses when their bets were looking good but did not lose any of those bonuses when it turned out the bets had actually been bad. Instead, taxpayers and ordinary company stockholders (401Ks, IRAs etc.) took the losses.
Political rights, civil liberties for Shiites----mainly political reform and economic improvement for Shiites in Bahrain. The Sunnis are living okay.
A problem that of Protest. The Eskimos of northern Alaska were protesting the pipeline construction, so they poured their surplus of pink salmon from their village into the pipes, delaying the construction for years.
When there is a presence of external negativity market failure often occurs because there is no trust left between a business and society. For example, a corporation that is openly protesting human rights, may have a fluctuation in stock prices that is so low as to cause a shut down of the business.
To refuse to buy goods or services from a person, group, or country is known as a boycott. This action is often motivated by ethical, political, or social reasons, such as protesting against unfair practices, human rights violations, or environmental concerns. Boycotts aim to exert economic pressure to bring about change or to express disapproval. By withholding support, participants hope to influence the behavior or policies of the targeted entity.
