Because they're not the old fashioned type of farmers you think that Canadian farmers are. They have the money and willingness to use technology and large machinery to till fields and seed and harvest crops. Just like in the USA, most farms are getting to be more and more about a one-man operation than they were in the past. Not many people are interested in working on a farm any more, there's better paying jobs in the cities than there is working on a farm.
