Lycoma, or lichen planus, is a skin condition believed to result from an autoimmune response where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks skin and mucous membranes. Factors contributing to its development may include genetic predisposition, stress, certain medications, and exposure to allergens. While the exact cause is not fully understood, it is often associated with viral infections and other underlying health conditions. Treatment typically focuses on managing symptoms and reducing inflammation.

I had a lycoma removed from my left shoulder. The mass looked like the fat that is cut from a steak. It is not called a Lycoma its A Limpona, which is a fatty deposit. Some times it is linked to tumors but is almost 100% benign.
A lycoma, commonly known as a lichen sclerosus, may require removal if it causes significant discomfort, pain, or functional issues. Treatment options depend on the severity of symptoms and the individual’s overall health. Consulting a healthcare professional for a proper diagnosis and management plan is essential. If the lycoma is asymptomatic and not causing problems, monitoring it may be sufficient.
