Because eventually you're going to have to pay for the consequences of it. Who knows what resources we're going to need in the future? Or what medical problems we're creating because of it. It may not be the most pressing concern to us, but certainly pollution will have negative impacts down the line--which we will definitely have to deal with by throwing a lot of time and money at it. Like water treatment plants; they're great but they may not be able to keep up with the demand for clean water. Nature used to sort of take care of that for us, like decomposer organisms and trees which spit out oxygen to help us take care of the abundence of carbon dioxide from air pollution. But what about the trees we're messing up with soil erosion and dirt pollution? It's all connected in ways most of us don't really look at.
The definition of economic development is the process in which an economy grows or changes and becomes more advanced, especially when both economic and social conditions are improved.
It can be both a social and an economic reform. It can be social because people make up society and the level of educated people in society has effect on it. Also, it can be economic because the more a person's level of education affects the type of job he/she gets and how much money he/she makes.
