It is possible to get a counseling degree in under 4 years depending on the institution and degree program chosen. There are many private institutions that offer accelerated programs which require a heavier, more intense course load, but will help reach the degree of choice in a shorter time period.
Most University will require you to get one of these: A) a three years general, b) a four years degree or honours BA. Either way, you will need a lot of volunteer experience in the field. On average it will take about 4 years to complete such degree.
