What sororities and fraternities are active in UCLA?

The sororities and fraternities at UCLA change a lot! Many are gone each year and reestablish later. Many fraternities loose their recognition overnight due to a bad situation and their National pulls their charter. At this time the fraternities present are Sigma Nu, SAE, Sigma Chi ZBT, Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Tau Delta, Beta Theta Pi, and Phi Psi. Tomorrow it may be a different situation. The sororities are more stable and have defined tiers. At this time the sororities are: Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Alpha Theta, Alpha Phi, Delta Gamma, Kappa Delta, Kappa kappa Gamma, Alpha Delta Pi, Chi Omega, and Delta Delta Delta. AEPhi, AXO, and Gamma Phi Beta have come and gone and come again.

What is the date that the 22 founders of Delta Sigma Theta left Alpha Kappa Alpha?

SEE: In Search of Sisterhood: Delta Sigma Theta and the Challenge of the Black Sorority Movement, by Paula J. GiddingsThis can be traced back to the year 1912 at Howard University. The 22 members of the Alpha Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority decided they wanted to change the direction of the organization. After splitting into committees and formulating reports on the idea at hand, they unanimously decided to change the name, colors, motto, creed, the shield, and the organization of Alpha Kappa Alpha. A graduate member (Nellie Quander) objected to idea at the finalizing meeting, and rallied enough support from other graduate members in the area and together they shot down the idea. The 22 members persistent in their cause were denounced of their membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha. They reorganzied under their own sorority known as Delta Sigma Theta. Thus the 22 founders of DST were in fact members of AKA. Thus from this the famous rivalry was started. *HINT: Delta (means change)

Is the ten year rule still in effect for those who do not meet the GPA requirements yet still desire to join Delta Sigma Theta?

I wanted to add additional information. I graduated from a prestigious university approximately 6 years ago. In undergrad, I met the GPA requirement (when it was a 2.5) and other pre-requisites to be considered for membership in such an illustrious organization. However, I knew that I could not give 100% to the undergraduate chapter due to work, community service and school (although I did attend every single program sponsored by the Deltas on my campus and contributed financially and talent-wise to their events); thus abstained from seeking membership at that time. After undergrad, I relocated to another location where the local alumnae chapter had a line within 2 months of my relocation. Seeing as though I had not resided nor had the ability to do community service in that for a lengthy period of time; I attended Rush to learn more about the requirements of an alumnae chapter however, I did not submit my application for membership. Since then, I have received a law degree (working two jobs to put myself through school) and I'm licensed to practice in two states and in the Caribbean. While I have certainly accomplished a great deal professionally speaking, my GPA in law school and undergraduate would not meet the requirements for membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I do recall that in the past one would have to wait ten years to pursue membership if you did not meet the requirements. I wanted to know if this is still true or if the policy has been modified/abandoned as a result of the new membership requirement. I've wanted to become a member of Delta Sigma Theta for as long as I could remember and would be honored to join the ranks of such distinguished members; however, I don't want to chase "ghosts"-meaning I don't want to continue to desire to join if there is no way I can do this. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
