Their official language is English but their second language is Spanish because, Barbados is an island which was conquered by the Spanish for a while, but they then left and the English came. That's why the language has now changed to English. The majority of the population (93%) are of African (slave) descent, some 3% are European, a further 3% ofother ethnicities. However some of the people are of Spanish descent like Puerto Ricans, Dominicans etc.
