Yes, school attendance does affect a child's academic performance. If the child is not in school for an important lesson, he/she may never understand the lesson because he/she had to learn it from friends, and not the day the teacher taught it.

Yes, school overcrowding can extremely effect academic performance. Teachers spend more time teaching the entire class rather than being able to give individual attention to his or her students. Individual attention can make a world of difference when it involves a child's learning. Consequently, in New Jersey, we have established the no child left behind act. This sets a guideline of certain requirements that a teacher must meet when dealing with a slower paced student. This is extremely helpful to the slower paced student although it takes away attention that the average to faster paced students could really use to advance even further. Therefore, Overcrowding especially inhibits the amount of personal attention a student will receive, and with programs like NCLB it is inhibited even further. As a result, our government needs to increase tax spending in education, hire more teachers, ultimately decreasing class sizes, ESPECIALLY in New Jersey.
