Well some people say that friends and boyfriends/ girlfriends sometimes prevent you from studying, as people think you may spend too much time with them, therefore abandon your studies. This is sometimes tru and sometimes not, my sister got bad grades because she spent 10x as much time with her boyfriend than her studies, therefore she got bad grades. Also if you have an argument or falls out with your friend(s)/boyfriend/girlfriend you may feel upset or stressed, which will probably distract you form your studies, which my sister does now, so her course work gets handed in months later than it should be.
