The Greek letter F, f is Φ, φ[phi].

For some reason (almost) every Greek word that is passed to English has the φ transliterated to 'ph' and not to f.

So, an easy way to find the Greek words in the English language is to check if the sound 'f' is denoted with 'ph'.

Examples:

photography: φωτογραφία [fotografia]

phosphorus: φώσφορος

photon: φωτόνιο

(all the above from φως [fos] = light)

phoenix: φοίνικας

phase: φάση

phrase: φράση

phantasy also fantasy: φαντασία

>> but fantastic < φανταστικός

phantom: φάντασμα

physics: φυσική

philosophy: φιλοσοφία

phlegmatic: φλεγματικός
