Often solutions arise from complaints. Problems that fall by the wayside can be brought to light through customer (or staff) complaints and can bring about positive changes through resolution.

You can inquire of the BBB (by phone or online) about specific businesses. If there are complaints on file, you will be told how many and if they are opened or resolved. All companies have complaints on occasion. It is unfortunate when the consumer must involve the BBB for resolution, but sometimes the "resolution" just means that the business offered a resolution that the consumer did not accept. For example, you may be unhappy with the arrangements made by a travel agent. You report the problem to the BBB when you are unable to resolve it through the company. The company then offers you 10% off your next trip booked through them. This counts are "resolution" even though you did not accept it. So read between the lines. Yes, the Better Business Bureau keeps records of complaints on home telephone companies along with all of the other complaint records. To check for complaints you can go to http://www.bbb.org/us/ and do a search for the company you want to check out.
