I believe that Satan, even if he truly exists, has never tempted me. Like everyone else, it is true that I have been tempted, but I am not about to blame supernatural agencies if I make too little effort to resist temptation. I can give in occasionally to the temptation to eat another piece of cake, but when it comes to wrongdoing then I must rely on a well developed sense of conscience.

I think that perhaps you mean that God will not allow Satan to put upon us any more than we can withstand. Satan is limilted with the amount of trouble that he can cause us. Remember Job? God let Satan tempt him with all maner of temptations and troubles, but He did not allow him to take Job's life.
