If someone in the records and/or financial office at your school didn't tell you this will work ... it almost certainly won't work and it doesn't matter how well you write the letter. If you'd like to try anyway, you can find templates for promissory notes in general online with a small amount of searching.
If they did tell you it would work, ask them for a template.

Ok, you say that you didn't pay for the down payment on the car....but.....did you sign the promissory note as the borrower or as a cosigner. Because if you did, it is your car also and you will also be charged for the repo.
