One thing I found when I replaced the driver's side mirror on my 1998 SW2, and I subsequently read about this happening on some blogs, is that you can't get a replacement for the triangle-shaped plastic piece on the inside part of the mirror (where the toggle comes through) and the old piece won't go back in right. I don't know if there is a solution to this, but if so, I haven't found it.
