All OBDII vehicles ( any vehicle mid year 1995 and newer) require a OBDII scan tool in order to reset the vehicle's check engine light. Disconnecting the battery no longer is a functional repair for resetting the check engine light as the computer stores the information in the prom now, rather than in the RAM.
To reset the computer on an SC2 Saturn, first, ensure that the device is powered on. Locate the reset button, which is typically found on the back or bottom of the unit. Use a small tool, like a paperclip, to press and hold the reset button for a few seconds until the system restarts. After releasing the button, the computer should reset and boot up as normal.
