The English letter 'y' would be called ワイ /wai/ in Japanese. If you mean 'y' in Japanese characters, they don't have single letters in their syllabary, but syllables, made by merging vowels with letters. E.g. the group 'm' would be 'ma, mi, mu, me, mo'. In case of 'y' there are only three:

Katakana: ヤ /ya/ - ユ /yu/ - ヨ /yo/

Hiragana: や /ya/ - ゆ /yu/ - よ /yo/
