You don't lose any points for not answering a multiple guess question. You do lose points if you guess incorrectly. On free response questions you are advised to answer whether you know you are right or not, they don't take points away if those are wrong.

What happens if you leave a question blank on the SAT?

If you leave a question blank on the SAT, it does not count against your score. Unlike incorrect answers, which incur a penalty in the form of reduced points, unanswered questions simply receive a score of zero. Therefore, it is generally advisable to skip questions you are unsure about rather than guessing, especially if you're uncertain of the answer. This approach helps to maximize your overall score.

You must remember - this site is not 'live' ! There is no bank of people sat at computers waiting to answer questions. You have to wait until someone with the appropriate answer logs-on and sees your question ! That could be seconds, hours, weeks, months or even years !

How many questions should you skip on the SAT to get a 600 on each section?

Skipping questions on the SAT is advisable if you don't know the answer to a question and are unable to eliminate any of the answer choices. If you can rule out even one or two incorrect answers, you should always answer that question even if you have to make a blind guess, since probability states that you'll gain more points by guessing in this fashion than you'll lose by answering some of the questions incorrectly.
