Most full-time teachers are paid to work 40 hours a week. They arrive at school before the students, and do not leave until after all students have been dismissed. However, most teachers also work long hours away from school planning lessons and grading papers and assignments.

A teacher is usually issued a contract stating that they work 180 days a year, 7 hours a day (including a 30 minute lunch and 30 minute break) BUT almost any good teacher puts in an additional 2-4 hours daily plus several hours at home for FREE just striving for students success.

(I am a guidance counselor for over 22 years and I see teachers stay late every night copying, grading, etc)
