It depends on the credit load carried per semester. If a part-time student takes have the credit load carried by full-time students, then you can double the amount of time it will take. Law school is three years as a full-time student. For schools that offer the program on a part-time bases, you can estimate the length of time as six years to complete. Still, six years will pass whether you go the law school or not. Thus, in six years will you be an individual with a law degree, or an individual without a law degree? Now, I am assuming you already have at least a bachelor's degree which is required for entrance into law school. If not, it will take approximately eight years to complete The Bachelor's degree and an addition six years to complete law school as a part-time student.

The first step is to become a lawyer. That requires law school and passing the bar for the state in question. Part of the schooling will deal with probate and trusts.
