Size of vagina is not yet difined as fixed. Its upto the age of a lady. Its never mean that if lady is of 65 yrs, vagina will be bigger than that of 40. Size of vagina increases till the age of 25 then it just fluctuate according to situation for example:: at time of giving birth to a child it increases a lot in size due to hormonal changes after that it comes to previous size.

If doctor uses XL vaginal speculum does it mean your vaginal opening is big or your vaginal canal is long?

Using an XL vaginal speculum doesn't necessarily mean that your vaginal opening is big or that your vaginal canal is long. It simply indicates that a larger speculum is required to properly visualize the cervix. An XL speculum can be used for various reasons, such as to accommodate the anatomy of the individual or for better access during certain procedures.

Can a tampon get stuck inside you on its own accord or does it have to be pushed somehow?

Tampons can't get stuck inside you. Tampons can go no further than your vaginal canal, this is because at the top of the vaginal canal is the cervix (opening to the uterus) and a tampon cannot pass through this. As long as you relax and you're using tampons correctly you can remove a tampon - if you struggle then you'd need to see your doctor for help to remove the tampon.

Can a tampon get stuck in your stomach?

No, a tampon cannot get into your uterus as the opening to the cervix (the bottom of the uterus) is too narrow for a tampon to get into. Your vaginal canal is essentially a dead-end as far as tampons are concerned, they can go no further than the vaginal canal. If you insert [clean] fingers vaginally you can feel for yourself that your vaginal canal is only so long ans there's nowhere for a tampon to go.

Where does the finger actually go in side the vagina?

Vagina -The vagina extends from the vaginal opening to the cervix to the opening to the uterus. The vagina serves as the receptacle for the penis during sexual intercourse, and as the birth canal through which the baby passes during labor. The average vaginal canal is three inches long, possibly four in women who have given birth. This may seem short in relation to the length of the penis, but during sexual arousal the cervix will lift upwards and the fornix may extend upwards into the body as long as necessary to receive the penis. After intercourse, the contraction of the vagina will allow the cervix to rest inside the fornix, which in its relaxed state is a bowl-shaped fitting perfect for the pooling of semen.

If a doctor uses fingers for a pap spear is this normal?

pelvic exams are usually conducted while you are getting a pap smear. the physician inserts fingers into your vaginal canal and pushes on the abdomen to make sure your uterus and ovaries and normal and not swollen. i hope you are not confusing a pap smear with a pelvic exam. (this happens a lot) when getting a pap smear, a speculum will be inserted, the metal or plastic duck-billed thing that allows the dr to see to the back of your vaginal canal where the cervix is located. a long q-tip device is used to collect a culture from the cervix.

Is it possible to put a tampon too far in?

No, it's not possible to push a tampon in too far.The vagina is only a few inches in length and at the top of the vaginal canal is the cervix which will prevent the tampon from going any further. A tampon thus can go no further than your vaginal canal as there's nowhere else for it to go, the vaginal canal is essentially a dead end. You can only push the tampon in so far with your finger or an applicator too as it won't reach any further.

Is it possible for a tampon to be stuck deep in the vagina?

Tampons are supposed to be pushed all the way inside, they sit high in the vaginal canal - they can't go any further than your vaginal canal because the cervix at the top prevents them going any deeper. If the tampon is too far in for you to reach then push with vaginal muscles and squat. You should not be wearing tampons when sleeping as most people sleep around 7-8 hours, tampons need to be changed every 4-6 hours and even if you set an alarm there is a risk of oversleeping. You also need to alternate with pads and overnight is the best time for this. Misusing tampons such as leaving them in too long will increase your risk of contacting Toxic Shock Syndrome or cause vaginal infections such as Bacterial Vaginosis.

How deep do you put a tampon?

If you will notice, there are two parts to a tampon., A small skinny part and the wider part that holds the absorbant material. Place your fingers on the wider part that houses the aborbant matieral, insert the applicator all the way until you feel your fingers touch your vagina. Then push the skinny part up and remove the applicator. The applicator is that size so that the tampon can go in far enough without you having to use a ruler(!)
