Theres nothing you could really do with just a student ID card... theyd have his picture and everything on file so if you try to use it theyll just say "hey, that's not your card" and take it away...
I take it by ID card you are referring to a student, or work related identification card. Either way, the hologram would be placed on the card to make it difficult for people to duplicate the card or make fakes.
