There are many division 1 colleges that have men's swimming programs. Some of these include the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Minnesota, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Massachusetts.
The mascot is a bulldog. A bulldog was chosen because its low stature and ugly face represent the hard and often unpleasant work needed to achieve great scholarship, and the wrinkled faces that most Yale professors have because it takes so many years to reach that level of expertise.
