According to the London Times of Higher Education Learning, the United States in fact, has the finest and greatest universities in the world as Harvard and Yale are the number #1 and number #2 best universities in the world. Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, and Columbia are just a few of many other prestiguous contenders on the list.

The latest list actually has Cambridge top, AHEAD of Harvard.

I'm sorry, but that's just not possible to answer...

...at least not unless you define what "best" means, in this context. There are many, many world-class colleges and universities in the United States... more, I venture, than most any other country.

Exactly how many, though, is hard to answer because you'd first have to indicate what qualifies any given school for inclusion in what you consider to be the "best" category.
