How many weeks are in a school semester?

High school = January through May (and part of June) College = January through April (and part of May) Typically.

A semester has a duration of 6 months and in some universities it could be of 4 months.

In most cases a regular college year is 30 weeks of classes divided into two semesters of 15 weeks each. A third summer summer semester is offered but not part of the normal college year. Semesters can be of different lengths for example from 12 to 18 weeks.

It depends on the college or university. In general, a semester is 16 weeks if the institution operates on a two semester academic year. There are some schools who have added to the weekly class time and cut their semesters down to 14 weeks. but once again it depends on the institution.

It depends on which state, but with my experiences in attending high school in Oklahoma for 11 years and 1 year in Texas so I'm sure it's the same or very close to it for other states. It may not even be a state matter. It might be federally regulated since you are dealing with a Diploma, which all colleges accept all accredited high school Diploma
