It varies by location, license, and degree. LPN/LVN's often have a certificate in nursing; this usually takes about one year. RN's often will have an Associate's or Bachelor's degree which take two to four years of education. There are more advanced nursing degrees beyond The Bachelor's but those programs usually require you have been working as a nurse for a certain amount of time on top of having a Bachelor's degree.
