Based on my opinion, you don't need TOO much extra curricular activities. This doesn't mean you shouldn't do many, but not too much that you hardly have any time to yourself or sleep. You should have a nice balance of maybe 1-2 extra activities, or if your willing to go a little further, maybe 3. Colleges don't necessarily care that you do everything. However, they do want to see that you've found an interest, a passion, a path, and you spent alot of time and effort to it. It should be noted that colleges don't paticularly look at middle school activity. Most of the times, they will look at high school.
