And then they will turn 14 during the year, or the summer after it if they have a summer birthday. But, places with these later cut-off dates will allow children to begin kindergarten when they are 4, meaning that they will still only be 12 when they start 8th grade.

And some kids could turn 15 during 8th grade, if they ever had to repeat a year in school and got behind.
