these probably aren't the best schools for architecture, but my brother took an architecture course at Catholic University in DC when he was a junior/senior, and next year he's going to Iowa State. they start with about 200 kids and after the first year only accept about 60-some into the four year architecture program, so im guessing it's pretty selective there.
