Standard form is a way of recording numbers. It uses a single number from 1 to 9, followed by a decimal point and the rest of the digits, and multiplied by a power of 10. For example, 3600000 in standard form is 3.6 x 106 and 0.00759 is 7.59 x 10-3.

The standard from of the equation of a sphere is (x-a)2 + (y-b)2 + (z-c)2 = r2. Again, in 2-d the z term is dropped, and additional terms are introduced in higher dimensional space.
