Yes, I am a mother of one and have been working in and out of the school systems for a few years. All little kids are fascinated with their anatomy and other kids anatomy. It is a fact of life that when they discover that other kids, like your little boy, has the same strange body part like him that he would want to see it. little boys are just curious and need to be told why it is not alright to ask another little boy to see his penis.

When you say 5 inches, is that erect or flaccid? If erect, thats the average size for 17 year olds. If flaccid, that's the average size for an adult man. Either way, that's completely normal.

Is that flacid or erect? I think that's fine for a boy that age. When I was at that age mine when erect was about 4 inches...

It is not unusual for children of that age to be curious about the other gender,

however looking at and touching of the genitals should be strictly discouraged.
