Ticktackoma and Ticktackopa are expressions used for great-grandma and great-grandpa.
The German word for great-grandparents is Urgroßeltern (Uroma, Uropa)
The story is that the expression came about when a young child misunderstood the meaning of Ur. The word Ur sounds the same as Uhr (clock) and to German ears the tick-tock sound of the clock is ticktack. According to legend the child was unable to pronounce Ur and so called them ticktack.
I remember the expression from my own early childhood and being very disappointed when I found that my Ticktackoma and Ticktackopa had nothing to do with clocks
