A welcome speech can be brief. Basically, all that it needs to do is welcome people to the day, and it could include something brief about how much teachers are appreciated for all they do, what events are planned for the day, etc. End the speech by introducing the next speaker or transitioning into whatever is planned next. A sample is: Good morning to all, and welcome to Teacher's Day. We love this day because it's our chance to honor our teachers, who work diligently to teach us in an interesting and relevant way. We have some special events planned and here to tell you about them is (introduce the next speaker).

A true teacher is a constant learner. You proved it right. Thanks for leading us to kindly light.
"Helps students to understand challenging concepts." "Makes the subject easier to understand." "Keeps students interested, and makes them want to learn more." "Inspires students to want to pursue careers in the subject." That sort of thing.
