Is snot a good name for an alien?

Not really. To start with, it's already a word and you should invent totally new names for your characters if you can. Second, "snot" is probably not the sort of name your alien character wants to have as a name - who'd name their kid after mucus anyhow? Pick something that the alien's mom would have thought was a good name!
