No certain age exists when people go to college. Normally people go at about age 18 when they finish high school. My son started when he was in high school. His high school had dual enrollment and paid for it. He received his high school diploma and AA degree at the same time. A number of people start college when they get out of the military and have enough money to pay tuition. They are about 22 or 23 years old. Some people start college when they retire in their 60s. Every now and then you will read about someone who finished college in their 90s. Also every now and then someone will finish college around 12 years of age.
The time to go to college is after you have enough background to understand the material. It is after your brain is mature enough to grasp difficult concepts. It is after you are ready to turn in a lot of work. It is after you are willing to experience a lot of pure drudgery. It is when you will sit through hour after hour of dull lectures. It is when you are willing to pick up an advanced physics book that makes absolutely no sense and be willing to go from page one to the end in a few months and then start on the next one. Then you are ready for college. At what age will you be ready for that? You tell me.
It is possible to attend college at age 12 if that certain college accepts you. You also have to be incredibly smart. You'd probably have to have a 4.0 and A-pluses in everything.
