I believe the only requirement for taking the AP exam is that you are a high school student, but I could be wrong. As I recall, the form had bubble options for eighth grade students as well.

In addition, you don't have to take the AP Psychology course to take the exam, though it's highly recommended. There are books available for study, but the information in them is not as in-depth.

If you're a high school student, talk to your school's AP Coordinator about the requirements of the exam. If you're in college already, I suggest just taking a Psych 101 course, but you still might be able to test out of it. Visit the college board's site and look under AP for more information.

What is the grade if you get 3 out of 16?

The grade for this depends entirely on the difficulty of the exam and what the standards are. If you are given 16 unsolved problems to work on and you solve three of them you deserve the highest possible grade. If you are taking some sort of minimal competency exam you only know three out the required answers then you deserve a very low grade and have a lot more work to do if you want to pass.
