Lies themselves do not change facts, it is the momentum generated by lies that can change facts. This is known as the placebo effect.

If I give you a pill and tell you it will cure your headache (unbeknownst to you it does not have such medicinal properties) and you accept this. Your headache may be mitigated as a result of you believing the lie.
