a short repair harness is available for most alternator connections from any good parts supplier
Spark Plugs do not affect your alternator. As long as your engine is running then it should be charging unless your alternator is bad
you will need to remover the starter from to get to the rear plugs and remove to alternator to get to the front plugs. not really any other way unless you have very small hands and tools.
Any auto parts store where you will go to buy a new alternator can tell you what you need.

For more detailed directions, follow the instructions for changing the plugs in any 3800 engine in the grand prix '97 and up listed in the grand prix forum. Hope this helps. "G" You need to remove alternator, and undo forward engine support to get engine to go forward. It is a tight fit but it can be done. I even did it with just alternator removed. Have fun

Once a motor vehicle starts ( using the battery as the power source) the alternator essentially drives the spark plugs to run the motor to turn the belts to drive the alternator to provide power to the spark plugs.... and, and, and...
the thermostat is behind the alternator! gotta remove the alternator and most of the plugs around it to get to the bolts on the thermostat housing

May need plugs and plug wires, may have a dirty fuel filter, injectors probably need cleaning by a mechanic (such as PrecisionTune). If you install new plugs, DO NOT GAP THEM! They are factory set. You will ruin the platinum coating with a feeler gauge.
