Furosemide (Lasix®) is a prescription medication commonly used for controlling high blood pressure. It is also approved for the treatment of water retention caused by kidney disease or kidney failure, cirrhosis, or congestive heart failure. Most people being treated for high blood pressure start with furosemide 40 mg tablets (one tablet, twice daily). Based on your response to the medication, your healthcare provider may increase or decrease your dose as needed.
