I'm not even sure they should. I guess that depends on the teacher. In my opinion they should have, but only minor tasks that could be done applying the already known (for example read and write an essay about a book). After all they are on holidays, they deserve the break, but they shouldn't entirely forget all about school since it only makes it harder to come back and get to the same pace.

Because it's not a vacation if you have to spend half of it working. When kids have too much schoolwork and not enough free time, they learn to hate learning.

∙ 10y agoEverybody would love to play all the time and not have to work. School is your job, and just like your parents have to go to a job every day, you have to do schoolwork even if it's not fun. Homework is not "bad" - it helps you learn the material and do better in school so you can get a better job and make more money once you are grown up.
