Harvard does not publish the average SAT scores for admitted students. Other Ivy League schools do publish some of their percentages and you will find that around 40 to 50 percent scored 750 or above on each section of the SAT's. That means that the other half of the students must have scores below 750.

In my experience, most applicants have scores above 700 on each section along with a strong GPA, and some other quality that makes their application stand out.

Every student at Harvard is a "star" in something other than great board scores and a great GPA (a sport, musician, national recognition in something, etc..)

I have heard that strong athletes need all three scores above 600 on each section of the SAT with absolutely no C's on their transcript in order to be recruited.

Any student with a strong GPA and scores above 700 or a total of 2100 on all three sections with a unique quality that makes their application shine, should definitely apply to Harvard. If you feel your attributes would contribute to a well rounded student body, Harvard is a great place to be!

I think you need at least a 2.6 GPA with at LEAST a 1640. A 1700 with a 2.8 will guarantee you a full ride. If you read this far, you probably won't make it in anyway. Sengkyu

There really isn't an established average for high school freshman since not a lot of them actually take it, but the general scoring range tends to vary from 1300 to 1800 on the new SAT.
