The major one is students being left out of the debate, the less confident/capable students backing out in stead of contributing. This could inspire the more confident/capable students to bring more of their arguments to the table, and as this goes on you could in a worst case scenario end up with 2-5 students arguing back and forth purely with one another, and the rest of the class resigning (I've seen this happen loads of times, me being one of the more capable students almost feeling bad for trampling on the other students but not wanting to hold back on my knowledge in fear of being percieved as one of the inactive/incapable students). However if you have a class that's generally quite equal in capabilities and confidence when it comes to speaking up, you have a good chance of an interesting debate if you can get a passion for the subject at hand going.
