I just installed a speaker in the front door of a 95 SL1. One wire is gray and the other tan. They both seem to work the same. http://www.installdr.com/Harnesses/GM-Wiring.pdf
The car stereo wiring colors for a 1988 Cadillac El Dorado with Bose are gray for right front speaker positive. Light green for right front speaker negative. Dark green for audio rear speaker positive and brown for rear speaker negative.

You need to remove the Interior door panel. From there you can gain access to the speaker and replace it as needed.
