It depends on what type of art you are planning to do. If you want traditional art then some art appreciation is necessary as a standard art class would be good. Graphic art would need a graphic design class and possibly a computer class as well. Drama for acting, there are a lot of different sorts of arts.

in new york state, i know, you are required to fulfill one art credit, which would be a studio art course. if you are referring to suggested art courses if you wish to pursue art in college, you should consider which style of art you like best: photography, video and digital art, ceramics, or drawing and painting. from there, either zone in on one or take a sampling of all. hopefully your school offers some advanced- level courses such as AP drawing and AP 2d.
To enroll in a art course you need to take more then one course, from 35$ to 50$ the college art courses are pretty much better, they don't cost that much.
