What do you mean by investment in education?

To say that education is a good investment on a personal level, you may mean the investment of time and money in a college or private school: college is an easier example. If it costs a total of $80,000 to go to college, but your chosen profession pays an average of $10,000 annually more if you have a degree, then over a 40 year period, you have made $400,000.00 more than you would have if you did not have a degree: that is a huge return on the $80K you "invested" on tuition. Politically, or on a larger scale, it pretty much means the same thing. If a country invests money and resources into education, they believe that they will have more innovative, productive citizens that will eventually bring more revenue to the country and use less public welfare funding.
