you don't need to be a model! who ever told you that? a lot of girls WISH they could be models though because models get a lot of attention. i know girls who are models (im a photographer) and they are all very selfish and can't think about anyone but themselves, so i think its always nice to be pretty but its prettier to be nice :-D

I've modeled professionally, and while it is a hard industry to get into, it's a lot of fun. I know many people stereotype models, but it actually is a fulfilling experience. Not all models are conceited brats.

In any case, it's true that many modeling agencies will only accept people with a certain look to them. You need good skin, and many agencies like girls with long hair, especially if you want to go for a "princess/flowergirl" look, which is popular for teenage girls. You'll want to have professionally taken photos as opposed to regular, birthday/home-taken shots, and if you don't have them and the agency is interested in representing you, they'll offer to take the photos for you.

As for physical features, you need a decent height, and a striking appearance (agencies want women with a look that people will remember as opposed to a look that is easily forgotten). If you have horribly pale lips, use lip gloss. If you have low cheekbones, use makeup. It's important to make a good first impression on the person interviewing you, for that often determines whether they're interested in representing you.

You have to meet the age, height, weight and physical requirements. There are several different types of modeling categories, each with their own sets of requirements. Having an agency is also part of being a model, although it is not mandatory. Successful models are those that are naturally photogenic, take direction well, have a marketable look and the ability to pose, walk and show off a designer's clothing and/or a company's product.
